Students in South Yarra will soon have access to the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve, with work under way upgrading South Yarra Primary School.
Member for Southern Metropolitan today toured construction of South Yarra Primary School’s $6 million upgrade, which will help it deliver a 21st century education.
Grove has been appointed to build the upgrade, which will include demolition of Block A to replace it with a new triple-story permanent modular building. This will include 12 general purpose classrooms to increase the school capacity by 200 students.
South Yarra Primary School’s upgrade will create local jobs, with work expected to be completed by January 2020.
Under the Andrews Labor Government’s school building boom, a total of 100 new schools will open by 2026, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.
The Andrews Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and get a quality education.
“These local upgrades are part of the school building boom that is happening right across Victoria.”

“Upgrading South Yarra Primary School will give local students access to great classrooms and facilities – because you can’t deliver a first-rate education in second-rate classrooms.”
