Metro Trains is delivering the Grenville Street Pedestrian Crossing Upgrade in partnership with Public Transport Victoria (PTV)/DOT. The key beneficial impacts of the project that have been identified include:
– Train-activated warning bells and electronic gates to alert people to oncoming trains
– Improved surface
– Ground tactiles to help people who are vision impaired.
From Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October, night works will take place in the rail corridor at the pedestrian crossing worksite. The night works will include the upgrade of the surface of the pedestrian crossing and the installation of new fencing.
The new crossing will comply with disability standards for accessible public transport and be safer for everyone to use. These works will be completed by the end of 2020.
