Suggestions from some that Victorians should reschedule screening appointments or any other regular health check-ups are irresponsible and inconsistent with the health advice.
Screening services, including BreastScreen, remain OPEN during the current lockdown, with COVID-safe measures in place.
Victorians who are booked in for an appointment during the current lockdown do not need to reschedule unless they are in isolation.
Eligible Victorians have access to free breast screening and assessment through BreastScreen Victoria at 42 permanent screening clinics, and at 25 metro and regional sites across Victoria that are visited every 2 years by the mobile screening service.
If there is need to have further assessment Victorians can attend 1 of 9 Reading and Assessment Services across the state, which provide follow-up tests free of charge.
Our Andrews Labor Government has committed additional funding to cancer screening services to address the impact of COVID-19 through screening catch-up and community engagement, including through funding of $91 million in the 2021/22 Victorian Budget to support catch-up of deferred services.
