Parks Victoria has closed Middle Brighton Pier to undertake structural testing before remediation works can be scheduled as part of the $2.7 billion Building Works program.
The initial works, worth $800,000, will focus on a section of the pier constructed in 1977 that provides access to the Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina.
The pier is currently closed to all traffic and pedestrians to undertake the structural testing, before the remediation works can be scheduled.
These works will protect the iconic pier for the future and Parks Victoria will work to ensure access to the pier is reinstated as soon as possible.
Parks Victoria is working with local community members and stakeholders to minimise the impact of the closure.
